Conor McGregor coach calls for lenient Khabib punishment

The Nevada State Athletic Commission should not come down too hard on Khabib Nurmagomedov, according to Conor McGregor’s coach.

Conor McGregor’s coach has called for the Nevada State Athletic Commission to be lenient with Khabib Nurmagomedov in the wake of the chaos that followed their fight at UFC 229.

“I just love watching him fight”

Nurmagomedov, who forced the Irishman to tap out in the fourth round, had his share of the purse withheld and was warned he could be stripped of the lightweight belt after leaping out of the octagon to confront McGregor’s stable-mate Dillon Danis, sparking a mass brawl.

McGregor was then involved in a scuffle inside the cage after two individuals entered it behind him and both fighters were escorted out of the main arena in Las Vegas.

Talk of a rematch has intensified as the dust has settled on the events of Saturday, with coach John Kavanagh revealing McGregor is “screaming and shouting” for another shot at Nurmagomedov.

“I hope [the commission] is lenient on [Nurmagomedov],” he told the Joe Rogan Experience. “Not just so we can get a rematch. I just love watching him fight.

“I can stretch myself to understand his reaction. I can’t stretch myself to understand [his team-mates’] reaction. For Khabib, it’s not the end of the world.
