Browns v Colts: Luck to pour water on Johnny Manziel’s men

Johnny Football looks the nailed-on starter this week; it’s a highly anticipated debut that’ll be soured by a Colts team that put points up for fun.

Hype is something you can’t quite describe. It’s a feeling built up from over-exposure to something that’s usually different and because of that, it’s enticing which describes Johnny Manziel to a tee. He’s not even started in Cleveland yet but many pin him as their saviour, a role he’ll try to fill as the Browns finally have a chance of reaching the playoffs.

In their way is Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts, who only seem to know one way to play and that’s to score heavily. They don’t bring too many surprises, they’ll air the ball out regularly with weapons all over the field that Luck has the ability to find and they’ll spoil Johnny Football’s party. They are at Evens to win with the -3.5 handicap, back the Colts to put a dent in Manziel’s mystique and Cleveland’s post-season hopes.

The Seahawks have looked much more like their Super Bowl winning selves the past few weeks, playing hard defence and leaning on the running game. The Eagles stormed through Thanksgiving, playing their high-paced offence to blitz their way to the top of the NFC East and now entertain the champs with the belief that they can give them another big test.

Despite the Seahawks’ small resurgence, this Philly team is too high-powered and will get too far ahead for them to catch up. Look at the Eagles to be the first to ten points at 19/20 and to win 19/20 because it doesn’t seem to matter who they play, they still rack up the points.

The late night game sees the 9-3 New England Patriots head to the West Coast to take on the San Diego Chargers. The Patriots had a close loss last week against the Green Bay Packers which would have hurt but they still hold top spot in the AFC and will fancy their chances against the Chargers. San Diego pulled off an excellent come-from-behind win in Baltimore last time out but they have been shaky, they need wins to make the playoffs but the rest of their schedule is a horror show of tough teams.

This one might not be as close as people think, the Chargers are weak in the secondary and Rob Gronkowski is a match-up nightmare for anyone in their team. Take the Pats to win with the handicap at 91/100 and inch ever closer to home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
