‘Bones’ and Miocic were expected to fight for the heavyweight crown, a fight that was considered to be one of the best of 2023.

Bad news for MMA fans. Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic won’t fight at UFC 295 after ‘Bones’ got injured during a training session.

Jones, considered by many as the greatest fighter the UFC has ever had, was forced to pull off after tearing a pectoral tendon off the bone during a training session on Monday night. The current heavyweight champion will need surgery, and won’t be able to compete again until next year.

“Jon Jones was training last night, got injured, he was wrestling, and he tore the tendon that connects your pec to the bone, off the bone”, UFC president Dana White said on X [Twitter].

He will be out eight months, he’s going to need surgery”, he added.

Jones, who was very motivated by the idea of facing Miocic, hopes he will be able to fight him once he’s fully recovered.

The former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion made history by winning the belt at heavyweight when he defeated Cyril Gane thanks to a guillotine choke in the first two minutes of the first round last March.

UFC 295: Another exciting fight to replace Jones and Miocic

Although Miocic is healthy and has been training for weeks, he won’t be on the card. The reason is that for the UFC it doesn’t make much sense to make him fight now that the super fight against Jones is off.

Besides how talented both fighters are, the main attraction was to see the best fighter in MMA history battle it out with the most successful heavyweight ever in the UFC.
